CAS 310 Modern History of Central American Peoples

Preparatory: Completion of the lower division writing requirement.

A comparative survey of the modern history of Central American peoples to the present. Major topics include: racial, ethnic and gender relations; land and labor revolutions; basic institutions (family, church, military); 19th and 20th-century dependency, imperialism and economic growth; relations with the United States and Europe; contemporary insurrections and revolutionary movements.
